Networks and networking are generally viewed as having high potential to solve problems, improve practice and build capacity. Social networks, like PLEAC, are structures for interaction and cooperation between individual players. A primary focus of PLEAC therefore is network coordination and relationship building amongst all the people, organizations and constituencies that have an interest in public legal education and improving access to justice.
Core Functions of the PLEAC Network:
Advancing Public Legal Education in Canada
PLEAC is About Networking
First and foremost, PLEAC is about networking. The association brings together public legal education practitioners, experts and policy-makers and provides an organizational framework for intensive networking. This involves developing effective strategies as to how members can meet, share and exchange their experiences and expertise for their mutual benefit.
PLEAC is About Learning
PLEAC provides ample learning opportunities for all the players involved. Of course learning activities within the legal education and development field (good practice, research results, state of the art, different approaches in the provinces and territories, Canada and beyond) is a substantial part of PLEAC's work program.
PLEAC is About Shaping Policies and Practices
Although the creation and maintenance of a program that provides for networking, sharing of experiences and learning for players both within and without the network is a considerable achievement, PLEAC goes one step further. The association makes a measurable impact in the public legal education and development field by influencing the shape of policies and practice.
